Who runs this site

This website is published by The Blazing Donkey, Ham, near Sandwich, Kent. Registered company details will be listed here before the site is publicised.

What we are, and what we are not

The Blazing Donkey is a venue for residential workshops, and for some of those workshops it is also a co-host. Workshops held here are led by qualified practitioners — sometimes independent facilitators bringing their own programme, sometimes people working with us, sometimes both together. Independent facilitators remain responsible for their own programmes, their own participants, and their own professional registration and insurance.

A workshop is group work. It is not individual therapy, medical treatment or a crisis service, and it is not a substitute for any of them. Booking a workshop is not a route into clinical treatment, and nothing on this site is an offer of clinical care. Where clinically trained people are involved in running a workshop, they are acting as facilitators of that workshop.

PROMIS Hay Farm is a neighbouring clinic and a separate organisation, with its own clinicians, governance and regulatory obligations. It does not operate The Blazing Donkey, and a booking here is a booking with us.

If you are in difficulty now, please contact your GP or an urgent care or crisis service rather than waiting for a workshop date.

Enquiries and your data

When you send the enquiry form, what you typed is posted over an encrypted connection to a small service we run ourselves on our own server in the European Union. That service turns it into an email to our mailbox and then discards it. Your enquiry is not written to a database and is not stored on this website.

We log that an enquiry happened — the time and the sending network address, for spam control — but never its contents. We do not use a third-party form service, so nobody else receives a copy on the way.

The resulting email lives in our mailbox, which is hosted by Google Workspace. We keep it for as long as it takes to answer you and to run any booking that follows, and no longer than two years after our last contact. We do not sell it and we will not add you to a mailing list you did not ask for.

Please do not send clinical or medical detail through the form. We only need enough to point you the right way, and anything sensitive is better discussed directly with the practitioner concerned.

Write to info@theblazingdonkey.com to ask what we hold, to correct it, or to have it deleted. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office if you think we have handled your data badly.

Registering interest in a workshop

Registering interest is the one thing on this site that we do store. It is kept on a separate service of our own, on the same server in the European Union, and it holds four things: your name, your email address, which workshop you registered for, and when. There is deliberately no message box on that form, so there is nothing else for it to keep.

We hold it because you gave us permission to, by ticking the box — that consent is the only legal basis we rely on for it, and withdrawing it is the same thing as having the record deleted. We use it for exactly one purpose: telling you whether that workshop is going ahead, and what the dates and deposit are if it is. It is not a mailing list, we will not use it to tell you about anything else, and nobody outside the venue receives a copy.

Deleting it takes one click. Every email we send about a workshop carries a link that removes your name and email straight away. You do not have to ask us, give a reason, or wait for a reply. If a link has stopped working, write to info@theblazingdonkey.comand we will do it by hand.

We delete it ourselves too. Registrations are removed automatically a month after the workshop they relate to has run, and nothing is kept for longer than a year in any case. That is enforced by the software on a daily schedule rather than left to somebody remembering.

As with enquiries, we log that a registration happened — never who made it. Deposits, when a workshop goes ahead, are taken through Stripe; your card details are handled by Stripe and never reach this website or our server.

Cookies and tracking

This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts. If that changes, this page changes with it and you will be asked first where the law requires it.

All photography on this site is of these buildings and grounds. Images are the property of The Blazing Donkey and its predecessors and should not be reproduced without permission.

Accuracy

We have tried to describe the place as it is rather than as it photographs. Facilities, room arrangements and what we can cater for vary by date — anything that matters to your booking should be confirmed with us in writing rather than taken from this page.

Accessibility

These are old, mostly single-storey buildings with level thresholds in some places and steps in others. If access matters to your group, please ask us directly and we will describe the specific route rather than make a general claim. If you have trouble using this website, tell us and we will fix it.
